Covid-19 France: Can I use bottle bank?

Am I allowed to offload all of my empty jars and bottles at the bottle bank?

Yes, you are allowed to continue to take your sorted rubbish, including bottles and empty jars to the appropriate container.

You have to tick the box déplacement pour effectuer des achats de première nécessité on the confinement form.

You are asked to continue to sort rubbish as normal, apart from masks, gloves, paper tissues and cleaning wipes which should be put in a separate bin bag with ties and left for 24 hours before being thrown away in the domestic refuse bag. They should not be put in the recycling bin.

According to the Coronavirus questions and answers government site a few déchetteries are also still open and you can use these if that is the case for your area. You tick the box déplacement pour effectuer des achats de première nécessité on the confinement form.

However, the vast majority are closed and you are asked to store any garden waste, or any other waste not destined for the normal bins at your home until your déchetterie is open again.

As textile bins are often separate from other containers the government site advises that it is preferable to wait until the end of the confinement period to take old clothes, towels and bedding to collection points.
