Letters: EU's new entry rules will drive UK tourists away from France

To the Editor,

Judging by the increase in advertisements on UK television for holidays in Turkey, Morocco and non-Schengen Bulgaria and Cyprus, it is obvious that those countries are cashing in on the expected chaos when the EU insists on fingerprinting British holidaymakers including children – and taking photos of babies would you believe?

With absolutely no guarantee that all the personal information collected will be safe in the hands of all the Schengen states is the EU certain that the databases cannot be hacked? 

I asked my MP to find out what happens if they are but nobody seems to know.

France looks like it will take a big hit if, as expected, people shun trips to Calais for pastures new. It is also an unnecessary blow to the tourism-dependent countries like Spain. 

Maybe the EU bureaucrats would be better advised to secure their eastern and southern borders rather than deterring British citizens. Not too late to back down.
