2,000 new jobs - at the job centre

Pôle Emploi creates 2,000 CDI posts as prime minister pledges to do more for unemployment

JOB centre body Pôle Emploi is doing its bit to tackle unemployment in France - by itself creating 2,000 new permanent jobs.

Prime minister Jean-Marc Ayrault made the announcement on a visit to factories in the Seine-Saint-Denis yesterday.

President Hollande made improving the jobs situation in France one of his key priorities for 2013.

Among the measures being extended is the "Emploi d'Avenir" scheme, which aims to get more young people into their first job - with 75% of their salary paid by the government.

Some 15,000 of these contracts have been signed so far.
