TGV train strike to hit first weekend of France’s Christmas holidays
A very poor service is expected on the south-east TGV lines from this Friday to Sunday as rail workers call for better pay and conditions

Train strikes have been confirmed this weekend on the TGV high-speed train network serving the south-east with a “very poor quality” service expected.
Strikes are being maintained on the south-east TGV lines from Friday December 17 to Sunday December 19, the first weekend of the school Christmas holidays.
It comes as SNCF leaders say that talks with unions held over several days have “regrettably… not allowed us to avoid strike action at this stage”, though they state that they are “still willing to listen”.
Train workers from unions including SUD-Rail, CGT and Unsa have been asking for improved working conditions, recruitment to help with understaffing, higher salaries and a ‘Covid bonus’. They say their salaries have been “blocked” in recent years.
