Shops can now legally offer ‘ le cash-back ’ after an EU directive on this was put into French law, however a decree is awaited in the autumn clarifying ceilings.
Well-known in the UK and Germany, it allows people to use their bank card to pay more for goods in shops than the required amount and receive the difference in cash.
