Monday is tax form deadline

IF YOU are a French resident then time is running out for paper tax declarations – the deadline is midnight on Monday.

Forms can either be posted to your tax office or dropped in by hand.

Do not forget, however, that there is an extension available for declaring by internet – but not if you are declaring for the first time this year.

The dates for the extension are: June 3 for departments 01-19; June 7 for departments 20-49 (including Corsica); June 11 for departments 50-974. For non-residents the dates are later – June 17 or July 1, depending on country of residency.

Penalties of at least 10% are applied to late declarations.

If you are still lacking any forms that you need (the main 2042 and any others applicable to you), they can be downloaded from the official tax website at www.impots.gouv.fr

Unfortunately, despite repeated requests, Connexion has yet to receive any clear information on the central tax officials’ decisions over the correct declaration and taxation of UK rental income or government pensions that have not had any UK tax paid on them.
