10,000 fake speed cams at roadside
From next month, dummy radar - and 500 more real cameras - will be installed across France
TEN THOUSAND fake speed cameras are set to be installed on French roads from next month, it has been announced.
As he confirmed a rise in the number of deaths on French roads in 2015, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the faux radar boxes will be gradually rolled out across France, while the number of operational speed cameras will rise from 4,200 to 4,700 over the next three years.
The number of people killed in traffic accidents in France rose 2.4% to 3,464, despite a fall in the number of collisions. It was the first time in 35 years that the number of fatalities on the road has increased for two years in a row.
The dummy radars were first announced in October 2015
as part of a range of plans intended to cut the number of fatalities.
