Carla reveals baby's name Giulia
France's first lady breaks official silence and says thanks for the many messages of congratulations

WITH a message of thanks on her website, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy revealed the name of her new baby girl as Giulia.
The name is of Italian origin and means "youthful".
She said she and President Sarkozy had been "deeply touched" by the numerous messages of congratulations they had received after the birth in the chic Muette clinic in Paris.
There had been no other official comment since news of the pregnancy first broke in the magazine Closer in April. And in interviews Carla told journalists that it was a private matter and that she would not allow any pictures of the baby to be used.
Sarkozy himself told workers at a factory in Mayenne "my girls are doing well" as he thanked them for presents to celebrate the birth. Among them, from the staff themselves, was a book on how women can regain their slim figures after pregnancy, called Mince Alors.
"We have been lucky to have a great happiness; our joy is very deep, a joy all the more profound because it is private," he said.
