Carrefour card holders alert
Anyone with a Pass Carrefour should check their account for a monthly debit potentially taken without consent
HOLDERS of a Pass Carrefour are being urged to check their accounts as they may be paying an insurance fee without their knowledge.
The problem has been revealed by France Info which found that the sub-contractor operating the card on behalf of the supermarket had been charging a monthly €3.75 insurance fee.
One card holder called the operator, Protect Paiement-Affinion International Assurances, and was told that she had tacitly given permission for the fee to be deducted by taking part in a customer satisfaction survey, even though the question of the fee was never directly put.
The woman has since had three years of payments - a total of €131 - refunded to her account.
The fee, which appears on statements as Protect Paiement, could appear on a number of statements.
