It follows first set of rises in December last year

Some appointments such as visits to a GP will remain unaffected by increases

Consultation fees for several specialist appointments are set to rise on July 1, including for dermatologists and gynecologists.

The timeline was agreed last year and follows a first set of increases in December 2024 with several fees that increased now seeing an additional rise in July.

Not all fees that increased in December will increase again, however. Notably, a visit to a GP will remain fixed at €30.

The increases come after several years of debate between healthcare professionals and the government over the price for appointments.

Reimbursement rates from state insurer Assurance Maladie remain at 70%, meaning price changes mean an increased expenditure for the government.

At the same time, the increase in costs covered by insurers is likely to see the prices of top-up mutuelle insurance rise again

What appointments are changing?

Appointments which saw a price increase in December that will see a further rise on July 1 include:

  • Visits to a pediatrician for a child under 2, increasing from €39 to €40 (prior to December 2024 this was €38.50)

  • Visits to a psychiatrist, neuropsychiatrist or neurologist rising to €57 from €55 (prior to December 2024 this was €51.70)

  • Visits to a gynecologist increasing from €37 to €42 (prior to December 2024 this was €33.50)

  • Visits to a geriatrician rising to €42 from €37 (prior to December 2024 this was €31.50)

  • Visits to a dermatologist for melanoma screening increasing to €60 from €54 (prior to December 2024 this was €47.50)

In addition, the three mandatory consultations for young children to visit a pediatrician will increase to €60 up from the current €54, with a new appointment type possible for 0-16s called the ‘pediatric expertise’ (d’expertise pédiatrique) billed at €60.

“Accessible on referral (from a doctor, school doctor, Protection Maternelle et Infantile (PMI), midwife, speech therapist or orthoptist), it will strengthen early detection and follow-up of developmental disorders, chronic pathologies or complex situations requiring coordinated, targeted care,” says Assurance Maladie.

In January 2026, a new ‘long consultation’ for over 80s will be available. It will cost €60 – fully reimbursed by Assurance Maladie – and will be a longer appointment focused on specific care points for the elderly
