Flying Frenchies daredevil dies

Tancrède Melet, 32, was killed by a fall from a balloon while preparing a new stunt in the Drôme

ONE of the Flying Frenchies, known for their aerial acrobatics, has died in accident while preparing a stunt.

Tancrède Melet, aged 32, fell 20m to his death at a location in the Drôme, after a balloon he was preparing lifted off accidentally, pulling him off the ground.

Melet was known for his extreme sports such as tightrope walking between hot air balloons and cliff tops, plus base jumping both on his own and with the Flying Frenchies.

A statement by the group said: “Tancrède Melet, an amazing lover of life, surprised us yesterday morning by leaving us too soon. He leaves behind wonderful memories, a taste of freedom and a head full of dreams.”

He is survived by his partner Tiphanie Breillot and their son Lèonie.

His stunts have appeared in adverts:

But he also like to post his own exploits on his own YouTube channel:

The Flying Frenchies featured in the April 2014 issue of Connexion after releasing their video Petit Bus Rouge.
