Livret-A savings break €200bn
Symbolic threshold of €200 billion now passed in France's most popular savings account
FRANCE'S most popular tax-free account, the Livret-A, has passed the threshold of €200 billion in savings.
Recent increases in investment saw the total amount push through the €200bn barrier, according to latest figures from the Caisse des dépots et consignations (CDC).
Interest rates on the account, which allow up to €15,300 to be saved tax-free, rose in February from 1.75 per cent to two per cent.
The funds are used to finance social housing.
