More Britons in France report health cards blocked
We have alerted the UK and French authorities to issues with cartes Vitale of British state pensioners in France; the British Embassy is asking those affected to make contact
The Connexion has now heard from several readers in different parts of France about problems with cartes Vitale following full Brexit this month.
A common link between these readers is they are UK pensioners whose healthcare is accessed via S1 forms.
The Brexit future relationship deal is meant to ensure continuity of these pensioners’ rights to healthcare in France paid for by the UK; however in practice there are issues reported this month in several parts of France.
We have reported the matter to the DWP and Department for Health and Social Care in the UK and to the British Embassy in Paris.
We have also contacted the French government and the section in charge of social security is investigating.
The British Embassy has asked that anyone affected should make contact with them at this link: www.gov.uk/contact-consulate-paris
We suggest putting in 'healthcare' and then clicking to say the suggestions did not help, so as to obtain a form to send your message.
We would also like to hear from those affected, at news@connexionfrance.com
It is thought that the issue is a technical problem which can be resolved quickly.
In the meantime we would advise those affected to report it to their own local Cpam offices.
