Nice to make parking free tomorrow due to public transport strike
The southern French city said the measure would avoid ‘taking users hostage’ to the strike, which will see many tram, bus and park and ride services closed

The city of Nice in southern France is to make parking completely free tomorrow (Thursday, January 27) due to planned disruption on public transport.
The Lignes d’Azur network and the mobility network Mobil’Azur in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur city are set to have difficulties all day due to a national social strike movement, the city announced.
En raison d’un mouvement social national, le réseau urbain et périurbain de Lignes d’Azur sera fortement perturbé le jeudi 27 janvier 2022 toute la journée.

As a result, parking will be free in areas where it is normally paid, between the hours of 09:00-20:00, on the day of the strike.
No service is expected on:
- Tramway lines: L1, L2 and L3
- Bus lines: 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23, 30, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 57, 64, 81, 87, Coeur de ville (town centre), N19, N63/64 and Cadam Est.
The Lignes d’Azur shops and all park and ride PARCAZUR sites will also be closed.
The transport network said: “All other lines will work normally.”
The city said that it was making parking free so the strike would not “take users hostage, and enable them to park in peace”.
