Policemen caught stealing from shop
Two immigration officers seen on CCTV helping themselves to telephone cards during a spot check on Paris shop workers
TWO policemen in Paris have been suspended and charged with theft after they were caught on CCTV stealing telephone cards during a visit to a shop.
The officers, who work for the Paris police force's immigration office, entered the shop in the city's 10th arrondissement to check the workers' documents and verify their right to work in France.
They are seen on the video showing their police ID to shop staff, who allow them behind the counter to carry out the checks.
The officers then help themselves to several packs of telephone cards while the employees are not looking, before running away.
The clip has been put online by Europe 1 and has so far been viewed more than 350,000 times.
The pair have been suspended from their job and charged with "aggravated theft by a public order officer". They are banned from contacting each other or carrying a weapon.
