Screws taken from high voltage power lines are dump at four prefectures in the south
VANDALS have removed screws from high-voltage power lines and dumped them at four prefecture in the south of the country.
The RTE, which overseas the grid in the south is taking the incident “extremely seriously”.
The screws were left in plastic bags at the prefectures in the Vaucluse, Gard, Drôme and Bouches-du-Rhône with a note claiming the action was taken in “solidarity with the civilian and military victims of the nuclear dictatorship”.
Some screws were also left at media headquarters.
The head of the south-east branch of RTE Catherine Grével-Dinger said teams would be carrying out visual inspections of pylons but added that in the Vaucluse alone there are more than 300, each with 600-900 screws.
