Will it be simpler declaring taxes in France in the second year?
This mostly depends on your sources of income
Reader question: I became resident in France in 2020 and filled in five tax forms last year. Will it be simpler this time? F.A.
This is difficult to answer without knowing how simple or complex your tax affairs are.
The French Fisc do use a number of forms, the main one being the 2042.
Others include the 2042C for certain ‘complementary’ kinds of income, the 2042C PRO for income of a business nature, the 2042 RICI for obtaining certain tax credits and deductions, the 2047 for income from outside France, and the 3916 for overseas accounts.
So, it depends on your sources of income and claims.
Having said that, from the second year most people are now required to declare online, in which case several of the paper forms are combined into one main section, though some of them still have to be chosen as additional ‘annexes’.
