Macron makes legal complaint against photographer
President Macron has made a legal complaint against a photographer for allegedly harassing him and his wife Brigitte during a private holiday in Marseille.
The couple is currently staying in the prefect of Marseille’s private residence, which is surrounded by a high wall and security cameras as well as offering views of the Mediterranean Sea.
The couple’s holiday destination had previously been kept secret, but it was revealed last weekend by French newspaper the Journal du Dimanche.
Reports from the Elysée Palace say that the couple has since been followed on “several occasions” by the photographer in question, “and there was an intrusion on the property, which led to the complaint for harassment and invasion of privacy being made”.

Neither the identity nor the employer of the accused photographer has been revealed.
President Macron has taken a noticeably more private approach to journalists and press since his election, in comparison to other presidents.
His predecessor François Hollande was even known to invite journalists to join him for ‘walkabouts’ during his holidays on the Côte d'Azur, in a bid to be seen as accessible and ‘normal’.
