Re your article on “ tu versus vous ” and the important question of style when addressing a lover.
In my view, vouvoyering is not enough.
Far better to go on to monsieur et madame, which applies another diaphanous layer of style. Sir and madam are certainly more stylistically titivating in English, in my experience.
