New reason for travel over 100km in France
A new reason has been added to the obligatory form for travel over 100km: to allow people to move to a new home.
The new addition has been welcomed by estate agents and rental companies.
It is the eighth and last box on the form and reads: “déplacements liés à un déménagement résultant d’un changement de domicile et déplacements indispensables à l’acquisition ou à la location d’un bien immobilier insusceptibles d’être différés” (journeys for a move resulting from a change of residence and journeys essential to the acquisition or rental of a property that cannot be postponed).
You will still need to carry a proof of address with you as for any trip, and you can show any document that can help to prove the reason you are travelling, in case of a police check.
The form is available here: https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Deconfinement-Declaration-de-deplacement
Since May 11 and the start of deconfinement, only removals which could not be postponed were allowed. It was then necessary to tick the box "compelling family reasons" to be able to move to an address more than 100km. It was also essential to have a sworn statement explaining why this move could not wait.
