Expat cyclists plan €10,000 ride for Unicef

Ten cyclists, aged 21 – 70, who work for expat companies Leggett Immobilier and Currencies Direct are setting off on a 800km ride on October 3 from Saint-Emilion in Gironde to Nice in a bid to raise €10,000 for Unicef

The cyclists have never undertaken such a demanding ride and will have to pedal around 160km per day.

Currencies Direct manager Cathy Temple: “It is a small way for us to give something back. The cyclists have been training for months and have raised money themselves but we’re also looking for corporate sponsorship and are continuing to do so even after we start!”

Graham Downie, Leggett CEO, said: “We hope clients will offer support and we even have some vendors joining us on the ride.”

The mayor of Saint-Emilion has donated a bottle of wine from the local area to the cyclists which will be carried en route and presented to the mayor of Nice as a gesture of friendship.

For sponsorship, contact Cathy Temple: cathy.t@currenciesdirect.com or Joannna Leggett: joanna@leggett.fr and see www.facebook.com/STEN2016 to donate and follow the ride’s day by day events.
