France’s La Poste criticised over parcel deliveries
La Poste has come in for intense criticism for its parcel delivery service in a growing number of social media complaints.
La Poste’s customer service account on Twitter, @lisalaposte, deals with a near-constant stream of problems with parcel delivery services, a FranceInfo investigation showed.
The most common problems include parcels being delivered badly damaged and being left in inappropriate places, such as rubbish bins and under doormats, and “you were out” leaflets being posted without the doorbell being rung and despite someone being in the house at the time.
A significant number of customers said their parcel never arrived.
One said that, since last August, parcels have been “left in front of the building” or “squashed into my letterbox”.
Another said that three parcels had gone missing recently, worth a total of €150 – even though La Poste records show them as “delivered”.
La Poste insisted that only 0.05% of the articles they handle go missing.
There are several ways of making a complaint about the French postal service. One is to ring free number 3631.
If you have a problem with a letter, you can also visit the La Poste’s website at tinyurl.com/wpsrpx5 and follow the links, based on whether you are the sender or intended recipient.
For a Colissimo parcel, go to tinyurl.com/yc6v8vfo, and for a Chronopost parcel delivery, call its customer services on 09 69 391 391.
If necessary, you can take your complaint to the independent Médiateur du groupe La Poste.
You can only contact it, at mediateur.groupelaposte.com, after you have gone to the La Poste complaints service and had no satisfactory reply within two months.
