Storm Filomena to bring snow to south-east France
The polar storm, which is currently causing icy temperatures and snowfall throughout Spain, will arrive in the Pyrenees this weekend

The south-east of France is set to experience unusually cold temperatures and snowfall this weekend, as Storm Filomena moves northward from Spain.
The polar storm, which is already causing exceptional winter weather in Spain and Portugal, will travel into France on Saturday, reaching the Pyrenees before continuing up through the Southern Alps, Var and Alpes-Maritimes.
In Spain 12 regions are currently on alert for snow, with 10-15cm forecast in Madrid. Other areas including Malaga and the Canary Islands are experiencing heavy rainfall, gusting winds and rough seas. The storm has caused sub-zero temperatures, road closures and traffic delays throughout the country.
French forecaster Météo France has released snow alerts for the Pyrenees this weekend, and said that snow could spread to the south Alps by Sunday.
